In a celebration of the 5th Centenary of the death of Christopher Columbus, the State Society of Cultural Celebrations and Junta de Castilla y León with the executive production of Instituto Inclusartiz/Fundação Arte Viva organised the exhibition curated by Luis Martín Lozano, director of the Museum of Modern Art of Mexico. The exhibition explores the connections between art in Europe and Latin-America through Latin-American works of the first half of the 20th century, including surrealism, automatism, magical realism, new objectivity, and metaphysical paintings with the use of different media like painting, sculpture, photography, and graphic works. The exhibition dedicates an important part to present supplementary materials such as documents and magazines of that time, which illustrate the exchange of aesthetic ideas between both continents.
