In a celebration of the 5th Centenary of the death of Christopher Columbus, the State Society of Cultural Celebrations and Junta de Castilla y León, with executive production by Arte Viva Foundation, organized the exhibition with curatorship by Luis Martín Lozano, director of the Museum of Modern Art of Mexico. The exhibition project explores the connections between the Art in Europe and Latin-America through Latin-American works of the first half of the 20th century, including Surrealism, Automatism, Magical Realism, New Objectivity, and Metaphysical Painting. The media includes painting, sculpture, photography, and graphic works. The exhibition dedicated an important part to present supplementary materials such as documents and magazines of that time, which illustrate the exchange of aesthetic ideas between both continents.
