On December 6, Instituto Inclusartiz promoted at its cultural center in Rio de Janeiro, in the Gamboa port area, the meeting “Persistence and Duration: Is it Possible to Twist a Museum’s Collection?,” which presented the public with a conversation between the curators of Centre Georges Pompidou (France) Alicia Knock and Paulo Miyada.

Held in partnership with the Embassy of France in Brazil, the event gathered several agents of contemporary art, including artists, curators, gallery owners and collectors, to reflect on the challenges of conducting and rethinking the art collection of an already renowned institution, taking into account the relationship between historical reparation and new perspectives on an already constituted collection.

The meeting was attended by Instituto Inclusartiz’ founder and president, Frances Reynolds, and renowned Brazilian artists such as Anna Bella Geiger, Iole de Freitas, Vivian Caccuri, and Arjan Martins; as well as young names in national and international art, such as Manoela Medeiros, João Modé, Romain Dumesni, and Emilija Skarnulyte. Collectors Leo Pedrosa and Margareth Telles were also in the conversation.

São Paulo native Paulo Miyada, who took over as adjunct curator of the Pompidou Center in 2021, currently collaborates with the acquisitions and donations of Latin American art to the collection of the Parisian institution. French curator Alicia Knock works on expanding the museum’s perspectives to Western Africa and Central Europe through exhibitions.
